If you love music and cruises, why not pair the two together for the ultimate trip at sea? There are lots of different genres and locations to choose from. And it’s not all about the headlining artist. There’s plenty of bands to see, parties to have and things to do. Here are some music-themed cruises setting sail this year:

The Boaty Weekender (August 8–12)

Headlined by Belle and Sebastian, a Scottish indie pop group formed in Glasgow, The Boaty Weekender is a roundtrip cruise from Barcelona, Spain, to Cagliari, Sardinia. The trip is a play on a 1999 music festival — The Bowlie Weekender — curated by Belle and Sebastian earlier in their career. The current lineup includes Mogwai, Yo La Tengo, Camera Obscura, Teenage Fanclub, Django Django and more. They’ll be setting sail on the Mediterranean aboard the Norwegian Pearl. Detailed information is available at www.theboatyweekender.com.

Runaway to Paradise With Jon Bon Jovi (August 26–30)

Ohhhh, we’re halfway there! — cruising the Mediterranean with rock legend Jon Bon Jovi and company. Joined by Grace Potter, Johnny Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls, Betsie Gold and more, the cruise also sets sail in the Mediterranean aboard Norwegian’s Pearl. It, however, goes from Barcelona to the Balearic Islands. The lowest available cost for this cruise is currently $1,474 per person for a party of four. But tickets appear to be going quickly, so head to www.med.runawaytoparadise.com to get yours.

MegaCruise (October 13–18)

Departing from the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro, cruisers will stop in San Diego and Ensenada, Mexico, with two days at sea before returning to L.A. aboard the Norwegian Jewel (seems like Norwegian is a fan of music-themed cruises).

Why is this the “MegaCruise,” you ask? That’s because it’s headlined by the heavy metal band Megadeth. They are scheduled to be joined by Anthrax, Testament, Queensryche, Suicidal Tendencies, Dragonforce, Overkill and many, many more. Stay up-to-date with the metal at sea event at www.megacruise.com.

KISS Kruise IX (October 30–November 4)

You don’t even have to be a KISS fan to have heard of the band’s famous “kruise.” It’s a rock and roll party like no other aboard the Norwegian Pearl, setting sail this year from Miami and heading to Great Stirrup Cay and Falmouth, Jamaica. This will be the ninth KISS Kruise, featuring KISS (of course), Bruce Kulick, Bob Schneider, Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown, The New Roses, Royal Bliss, The Dead Deads and more to be announced. The cruise is almost sold out, so resale tickets might get a little pricey. See full details at www.thekisskruise.com.

Brantley Gilbert’s Kick It in the Ship Cruise (Nov. 4–8)

Now I’m sure Norwegian doesn’t have all of the music-themed cruises in the world, but they certainly appear to have the biggest and best. Country star Brantley Gilbert will headline this cruise from Miami to Cozumel, Mexico, aboard the Pearl. The lineup has not yet been announced, but Gilbert did the trip last year with Luke Combs, Michael Ray, Blackhawk, Colt Ford and others. The lowest price currently available is $605 per person for a group of four — the least expensive on the list. Head on over to www.brantleygilbertcruise.com for more details.
